Combat Vets USA
Liberal Patriots
Combat Vets USA Motorcycle Legion is an association of motorcycle enthusiasts who are combat veterans committed to maintaining allegiance to the civic and patriotic responsibilities inherent in the oath of service sworn to by all military personnel.
A Summary of our Legion
While the primary goal for those of us who wear the Combat Vets USA patch is to share and enjoy our passion for riding motorcycles, we strive to do so in a way that sheds a positive light on our culture.
Membership is open to any veteran who has served in a combat zone. Gold Star family members are also eligible for full membership in Combat Veterans USA.
Our guiding principle comes from a statement most often attributed to Confucius and dates from some five centuries before the onset of the Modern Era: “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.”
We are patriots. We are not cultists. We follow and support the belief that we are a nation of laws, not men, though we acknowledge, as Frank Zappa observed, there are too many times when it seems that, “The United States is a nation of laws, badly written and randomly enforced”
We want members with a strong moral core, members for whom character matters. We don’t care what god you worship as long as you do it in private. Overt displays of religiosity, piety and proselytizing are strongly discouraged. The majority of our members, in fact, are agnostic, atheists or some other stripe of non-religious free-thinker.
We are allies to marginalized people. The term “woke” signifies, to us, someone striving for a more open and tolerant society and world. Woke is not a pejorative.
If you are comfortable with the above values and are interested in wearing our patch, we encourage you to click on the email link and contact us at combatvetsusa01@gmail.com. We will get back to you promptly.

Women Bikers Make Their Mark
Women have been some of the top riders since motorcycles entered the American market in the early 1900s. Here are two of the best:
Vivian Bales, of Albany, Ga.
In 1929, the 5-foot-2, 95 pound Ms. Bales took off for a cross-country trip on her Harley Davidson. She covered 5,000 miles and was on the road 78 days. While Harley declined to sponsor the ride, they penned Vivian “The Enthusiast Girl”, and provided her with sweaters with that moniker. The ride drew national media attention, and following it, Bales continued motorcycling, and performed stunt riding at motorcycle races in Tallahassee, Florida.
Bessie B Stringfield
In the 1950s, when many women were relegated to housework, Stringfield — the Motorcycle Queen of Miami — traveled on her Harley-Davidson through the Jim Crow South; performing stunts at carnivals and motorcycle events, some of which included a motordrome, known as the “Wall of Death” She served as a civilian motorcycle dispatch rider for the U.S. Army in the 1940s, and was posthumously inducted in 2002 into the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame.
